Summary0001297: Eye injuries always heal, don't cause vision impairment
DescriptionNo matter how severe the wound, a gouged or impaled eye will heal up after a while, ironicly making eye wounds just an tiny inconvenience as opposed to a hopeless situation where you lose eyesight forever.
Steps To ReproduceGet shot through the eye (bonus points if it gets lodged in) travel then see how the wound is all healed up.

What does this do with being impossible to kill?

If anything iots more related to how throat damage never goes beyond brown... (toady probualy balenced strangulation so you don't bleed out form the throat by just making it so throat injurys never go beyond borwn...)

Well on closer inspection they dont always heal fully it seems if it is red. the eye will eventually scar over and end up impairing the eyes function.

Reminder sent to: toybasher

So eye wounds do cause permanent damage? Should I mark this "no change required," then?

I am still not sure if this is ok behavior, I mean I understand but I doubt a gouged eye can even partilly heal up and I am COMPLETELY unsure what the effects are of having both eyes "Impared"

If vision stays normal even with two yellow eyes this is bugged. and as another report stated (mine I think) Eyes cannot be gouged out (embedded tag wont work correctly I think) so yeah, once eyes can be completely lost evreything will be ok, its just strange for a creature to have his eyes gouged a load of times and have it annoying heal up, basicly right now it seems you cant be permantly blinded (might change, testing it in arena now what the effects are of having both eyes damaged)

well In arena they wont heal, if you could travel in arena this might work though.

Any way to travel in arena mode?

and Not only that like I said before eyes CANNOT currently be removed, this gives them the ability to heal up on travel (Maybe in fortress mode with medical attemtion)

and the "permanent damage" is from scarring and eye tissue doesn't scar.

Testing in arena, so far having one eye red and one yellow will give you normal vision (but my throwing accurace went down alot from having one red eye) I am now testing what happens if both eyes are yellow right this second.

I managed to get both eyes yellow and i noticed there is no vision impairment at all with "Vision Somewhat Impaired" THrowing accuracy however is impaired.

In otherwords the Permenant damage is simply loss of throwing accuracy, nothing else.

Side effect of 0001292, if eyes were removable this problem wouldn't occur.

(Making yellow eyes cause actual minor vision loss would be a good way to fix this)

0006938 notes that this is also observable in vision arcs.

Confirmed, eyes still heal even after a head (mangled or teared out) wound in 0.40.xx
