0001446: Nobles and Administrators start out blanked upon embark
I made another region, and decided to embark towards a good place with water, enough cave terrain, and trees. But there was only one problem. After working hard making a new embark profile to save, i finally finished, and embarked. Upon embarking, i fiddled a bit to build up, then wondered why there was no expedition leader shown, so i decided to check a bit more, and looked at the Nobles area. It was blank! Completely blank! No broker, expedition leader, nothing. At this point, i'm probably gonna delete the region anyways.

The region file is located here.
http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2209 [^]

If required, i'd go add the embark profile text in the folder, if it'll help
Well, i have an embark profile, if needed. It will set everything all up for your dwarves to be prepared, if required. Otherwise, if it works this way, you just set all 10 points into EVERY starting dwarf.
As i said, i can't tell if those are the steps to reproduce it, but i can give the embark profile text if needed.

I also searched the best i could for a duplicate, and found none, so i posted this.
blank, embark, noble, nobles

Easier if i provide the profile anyway. Rename it if it's required, but i assume it might cause a bug.

Are you sure you uploaded the right save? I checked it out, and it was an adventurer in a world with no previous fortresses. I tried embarking from each of the three dwarven civs, and was unable to reproduce the bug. Are you able to reproduce it?

Oops. I had 2 folders of the same version, and forgot the right one. I reuploaded to correct region file.

Confirmed that this save shows an embark party with no expedition leader (and unlike 0000141, it's not due to the expedition leader having died).

Now to see if I can reproduce it on embark...

I was unable to reproduce it from an embark -- I regenerated the world, embarked on the same location with the same profile, tried both dwarven civs, always got an expedition leader. If it's reproducible at all, it may have been confounded by the fact that you had an adventurer in the world prior to the fortress. Do you happen to have a copy of the world after the adventurer but before the fortress?

As i said before, i had 2 folders of the same version. Both with DIFFERENT regions. I used the correct region at a second time, and i haven't abandoned the fortress at all. So no, there is no adventurer.

It might be a random occurrence, and i can't tell how it happened.

There was an adventurer before the fortress. I loaded the second save you uploaded -- the one with a fortress -- abandoned the fortress, checked Legends, and there was a human adventurer at the bottom of the Historical Figures list. Kasho Dragonblood, human, no kills, settled in Fragrantglows.

e: oh wow, I was just going through that process again to make sure, and I noticed that during abandoning it says "Offloading units... 0/0". Yeah, something is very wrong.

Maybe you merged both regions by accident, instead of deleting/moving the other one.

You can't merge regions. I redownloaded your save again to make sure, and yeah, somebody created a human adventurer and immediately retired in their starting town, before starting the fortress.

Try it yourself -- make a copy of the save you uploaded, abandon the fortress, open Legends, and go to the bottom of the historical figure list. Historical figures with cyan names and "guided by forces unknown" in their descriptions are adventurers.

There's a tiny chance this is part of the bug, but it strikes me as extremely unlikely.

I've seen this bug (0000017) twice, and I've never made an adventurer. So I'd second that extremely unlikely statement.

Ah, my other region had someone named Rozmo (of whom is too uber to be killed by anyone at the moment), but i never known i had an adventurer in the region i shown. At first i thought "hey did he say Rozmo? I'll go filter... whoa, 2 pages of Rozmos" but then i rechecked and saw you say his name, and it came up in legends, blue named. Didn't know i had an adventurer in that one.. or that i played one in the region...

Well, I'm still not sure how this bug happens, or why it's so random, but either way, I'll probably have to re-embark, and i don't really like that.

Doctor, this was actually the first time I've had it. 4 fortresses in a row, and nothing bad, until now. And yes, i have a separate file for 5 regions. Though i like doing mostly fortresses, and know how to keep them alive with only wrestlers, i stray away to do adventures on seperate ones.

Maybe when this happens, none of the starting dwarves have the mental stats or personality traits to develop pre-embark social skills, so none of them gets selected as expedition leader? It would explain the randomness of the bug, and why it doesn't happen very often.

Toady's note (0000017:0002787) suggests that it's a much deeper problem. Messed up ID numbers could explain why I got "Offloading units 0/0" when abandoning Hugna's fortress.

Wow! I just looked at the error log, and BOING! 11 Megs of errors in it. Lemme read through em, and see anything that might help.

Edit: I see all items i taken to an embark were all errors.
Edit2: Not to mention the items i obtained were ALSO on an embark, though i'm not sure if region 2 was the one. And my god, a lot of historical figures are errors too. The events of them too. Collection id numbers too. All the eyes could see, those 3 are most of the error log. Well, seeing as though this is major, i could go upload the entire folder, and it's regions, but it's over 100 megs, so i can't upload it.

Edit3: I'm not sure if this will help, but i'm copy-pasting something within the error logs. I assume it's part of the problem, and it's not long.

The "loop path fail" parts are maybe the only entries that aren't part of this bug. They're pathfinding problems, most likely related to 0001319 and/or 0001137.
