Summary | 0001742: Unconscious dwarf won't die from lashing |
Description | My fort was woefully unprepared for the goblin invasion, thanks to my arsenal dwarf who never got around to doing that job. Everyone died, some quickly, some in a reasonable amount of time. One guy, though, he wouldn't die, even with 3 goblin lashers hitting him for a long time. A baby became dehydrated and starving during this time, but he's still just thirsty and having a lot of red wounds.
Finally, another invasion came along and a mace lord finished him off. |
Steps To Reproduce | Have an armored dwarf go unconscious with lashers hitting him. He never bleeds to death or gets more hungry or thirsty. I guess it's hard to reproduce, because a lot of other dwarves died without making much trouble. |
Additional Information | I think it was his armor protecting him, but how did they knock him down in the first place? |

You don't happen to have a save from while he was unconscious, do you?
Unconscious creatures seem to be generally in limbo. See 0000449.

Yeah, unconscious creatures do not die from mortal wounds.
This dwarf
http://dobrochan.ru/src/png/1005/df_wounds_combined.png [^]
was wounded in year 660.
Its year 662 now, and he is still "heavy bleeding", "winded" and "exhausted". Doctors refuse to diagnose him, and he refuses to die too.
Oh, and, it seems they will not pull out arrows from the bodies of wound dorfs.
I had to manually unforbid and designate for dump those 6 arrows which were stuck in aforementioned Oddom Nimakoltar. Should be tested again on resting patient tho.

RusAnon, do you happen to have the goblins who inflicted the wounds in cages? I had a different fort with a soldier who was in bed with terrible wounds, but refused to die. Later when I offered all the caged goblins to the volcano god, he bled to death. |
|
|
|
^^^ Oh wow. In previous versions, that kind of bleeding showed up with the "cancels rest: interrupted by creature" bug -- see the second set of links at 0000352:0005678. |
|
|
|
@axus, could be, since battle happened over a trap field, which has cage traps.
Cannot verify due to large amount of caged goblins and slow rate of their elimination. |

Had similiar issue once again.

Croc drags dwarf into 7/7 water.
He keeps gnawing dorf for 1.5 years. Dorf does not either drown, die from blood loss or get torn apart by croc.
Once I died up that water and killed croc, dorf was successfully rescued and is still alive.
Save above is at the moment when croc drags him into water. |

Looks like this is still present in 0.40.19
Was in the Arena and pitted a dwarf and goblin against each other, both naked. The dwarf crushed the goblin's hand with her iron maul causing the goblin to feint. I have gotten to 249 reported accounts of the dwarf bashing the goblin in the head with her iron maul and bruising the muscle. Still not dead and the goblin has her head listed only as "bruised".
BTW, is bug 0004856 a duplicate?
