Summary | 0002143: woodcutter drops complete assigned equipment if being undrafted |
Description | noticed another equipment bug. A woodcutter will drop his axe when being drafted and equip the assigned equipment (so far nothing new), if he is being undrafted, he will drop ALL his equipment and take back his "woodcutting" axe, if being drafted again he will again take back his equipment (etc).
if unchecking woodcutting for this dwarf he will take back his equipment instantly(!).
I made the arsenal dwarf assign the whole equipment.
There seems to be a woodcutters gear and a military gear which cannot be whorn at the same time. |

Just confirming this is still an issue in 31.13, as it just happened to me. It's not only woodcutter but also miners. It almost seems like these professions have a special "work uniform" that includes their weapon of trade and (!) no armour (!). Once you deactivate them, they switch to the work uniform and drop everything, even if they are set to "inactive = uniformed". |

I can confirm this still happens in 40.09.
The save I specifically made to demonstrate this bug ( http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9158 [^] ) is still actual.
I had posted the accurate description of the bug and the steps to reproduce in 0007640.
TLDR:
Dwarves with Mining, Wood Cutting or Hunting labors drop all their assigned military equipment as soon as you deactivate the squad, despite the squad being set to Inactive - Uniformed. If you disable these labors on them then they respect the setting and keep wearing their uniform even while deactivated.
Note to managers:
Perhaps the title of this bug could be made more accurate? Something like in 0007640 or at least include info that it happens to Miners, Woodcutters, Hunters and that "Inactive - Uniformed" setting has no effect.

I confirm this still happens in a new fort in 40.23.
A dwarf with Station order, wearing a full uniform and set to "Inactive - Uniformed", drops all his equipment as soon as his order is cancelled, if he has either Mining, Wood Cutting or Hunting labors enabled. If he doesn't have any of these labors enabled he can wear full uniform while civilian with no problem.
As earlier, the save I specifically made to demonstrate this bug ( http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9158 [^] ) is still actual.
If you cancel squad order, they rush to store all their armor in stockpile instead of keeping wearing it. If you remove the armor stockpile and disable equipment storage in barracks, then they just drop it on floor.
