0002157: *PAUSED* indicator does not always disappear when game is running, and other display artifacts
When I pause (using spacebar) the paused indicator appears and everything is paused. Sometimes when I hit the spacebar again, the game becomes active but the paused indicator is still present at the top of the screen. Hitting spacebar again causes the action to stop and the indicator to stay. Hitting spacebar again causes the action to start and the indicator to disappear.
Pause action with spacebar. Use d -> i, to indicate stairways to be carved. Press spacebar again. Sometimes this works as intended, sometimes it does not.
Using Mayday graphics only, not the full DFG package.

This also can happen with announcements - if a shorter announcement follows a longer one, the new announcement sits in the center of the old one, creating something like this:
You It has started raining.agate!

Also, the *PAUSED* will stay after I close an on-screen menu, such as [B]uild or [D]esignate

Confirmed on my 0.31.5 file. Pausing and unpausing removes the pause label.

I just started up 31.5 and noticed this immediately. Since the pause feature is used so much, it quickly becomes an annoyance.

Ive noticed this mainly when its auto paused for designation and i use ESC to unpause (which has never been a problem before) even though SPACE is bound to pause

I've noticed artefacts from previously opened menus in all of the gray screen dividers. Pausing and unpausing seems to clear most of the middle and bottom ones in addition to what Illeist stated.

Confirmed, this can be a problem if you are not paying attention.

Aescula says at 0002180:

Border bars don't update properly. Technically a refinement of 0002157, I know. But it's the whole border bar. It's gone wonky, for lack of a better word. It fails to refresh, quite ofte, resulting in a border made out of DF tiles, or even lots of black gaps. Very very distracting.

I also ran into this issue using Ironhand's graphic's set, so it is not just with Mayday's.

It happens to me without a graphics pack, so it's not that. It's just the border tiles failing to refresh in general.

This happens to me, but only when using the PARTIAL print mode - which makes sense. Are people who are having this issue also using PARTIAL? Switching to STANDARD or FRAME_BUFFER removed any artifacts I was getting.

I got this glitch with PRINT_MODE:STANDARD, so it's not just PARTIAL that's causing the problem.

I haven't noticed this specific issue in 31.08 anymore, even though others seem to be reporting that they are. I DO still see 0002156 and 0002171 frequently, though. I should note that I use PARTIAL:0.

Using mayday graphics pack I noticed this happened a lot in .06, but it seems to have been fixed in .08, as I am not getting this problem anymore.

Me neither. Been using 2D and STANDARD, other settings default.

I noticed this back in 31.05, playing in TEXT mode on linux. Haven't played in TEXT mode on any more recent ones, though.
