Is there any water in the caverns you've generated? |

yes there is a pond on layer one and a lake on layer three.
layer three has growth some plants by now. but the secondary breach effect of having plants growing anywhere on mud after breaching the caverns is not there. |

Not all cavern layers have plants in them - if a cavern doesn't have any water, there won't be any plants (but there will still be mud). |

layer one has water and no plants. but it's not a outside connected always refilling lake, it's more an enclosed pond |
