Summary | 0004053: Encountering extensive lag during gameplay |
Description | New to Version .19, I find the game to be wholly unplayable (if randomly so) due to periodic and undulating waves of lag that never occurred for me in any previous version. It is akin to the lag I got whenever large bodies of water unfroze, but it bursts with no apparent cause. |
Steps To Reproduce | Do not know, other then extensive gameplay. My dwarves were busily building walls and dumping rocks, but there wasn't a 1/1 correlation there (as lag seemed to occur at other times and sometimes did not occur when they were carrying out these tasks. My entire original fortress attempt with .19 had no discernible lag.) |

This was occurring with relatively low populations... <50 dwarves, and wasn't simply 'slow' play... everything would simply STOP for 10-30 seconds, then the dwarves would act out a few frames of motion (not one, but maybe half a dozen each) and then the lag would hit again. |

Is this happening with all the forts you make? Maybe a save game would be helpful. |

No, I've not yet encountered it since |

I had a similar experience in a new fort genned in 31.19, and traced it to a corpse of a dwarf and ghost in a frozen river. The pauses, which are as described above, came in waves as the ghost appeared (and was visible on the map and in the units menu), and stopped as soon as I prepared a Memmorial Slab.
Unfortunately I dont have a save from the time of the ghost.
Could be as 0003615? |

Another seaming freeze or stall is when seasons change. Was there a transition from winter to spring? |

I spoke to soon.
0.31.19 save copied to 0.31.21, and almost instantly was back to waves of lag.
File here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3921 [^]
I will try out again in 0.31.19, see if that helps.
Edit: the save from .21 won't work in .19, obviously. I started from the original save again in .19 and played about 30mins further, without the game slowing.

From what I have tried earlier you will get big lag and 3x worse FPS from the start if you empark on a site containing <hidden underground house of Fun>. I suggest trying another site. |

Isn't the Clown Car on every map nowadays? |
