Summary | 0000440: Humans die of old age after end of world gen; corpses lay around town |
Description | On two separate occasions I entered a town only to find several fresh human corpses laying around. The corpses were from humans that immediately dropped dead of old age after I had entered the site (a fact confirmed in legends). A perhaps neat feature if not for the sheer quantity of people who decide to die right then and there. One particular apartment complex houses 3 dead old people. |
Steps To Reproduce | Has occurred only on a single world. Not tested. |
Additional Information | This has happened before with liaisons in the earlier versions. I believe the two are related. Also, I'm surprised I'm the first to report this bug (I tried every combination of filters to find a previous!), so perhaps this problem is isolated to certain conditions. |

I've never had this problem... The only time I ever get fresh corpses to litter the ground is when I go massacre the village... |
Yea this is probably related to "static towns" outside of adventurer mode once world gen is done. (Other incarnations include the world so hot that the moment you start any game everyone explodes... but not a second before).
Did you by any chance play a fortress on the world? |
I have played a fortress. Played and abandoned.
I have the save all zipped up in case it's useful. It's preloaded with an adventurer so you too can explore owns with random corpses |

If you played a fortress, then you've advanced the time past world gen by at least 1 one year. In that time, everything outside your little area remained perfectly static, including the people in that town.
So essentially, you ended up with the perfect scenario that 1. in world gen, these people did not die of old age 2. you played dwarf fortress long enough that these already-old people hit their age limit and 3. you then visited them, and the game was forced to recognize the fact that they were past their age limit.
This is kind of going to exist until there's a general "reorganizing" of the way time, migrants, people, dwarf mode, etc, all work. I can't find the specific Cores/dev notes related to it because of the redesign but stuff like this is on there.
Yea, I really agree that this is a bug and not intended behavior, but I don't think it's a bug that can be fixed at this time.

Given the world is receiving a rewrite on historical figure birth/death/succession, this needs to be checked for resolution in the next version. |

This is likely presumed fix, or if there's still a bug it has probably changed in behavior.
I'd prefer we close this as written, and someone can log a new bug if we find it |
