0004960: Crash while loading save with message "Missing plant gloss:[blank]"
When I try to load a particular game, DF crashes and give an error message that reads "Missing plant gloss: [blank]". Other saves load fine. In the save folder, I have all the "region x" subfolders and a "current" folder. The "current" folder is empty except for the raw folder.
Attempt to load save. Crash every time.
Using the Ironhand graphics via the LNP.

Please upload your save file to DFFD or somewhere else convenient - without it, there's no way to reproduce this bug.

The save is here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5187 [^]
This is my first time zipping and uploading a save, so please let me know if something is wrong.

Somehow, the object name for MEADOW-GRASS (the first plant object) got corrupted within the save file - after decompressing world.sav and fixing it using a hex-editor (starting at offset 0x0F3D04, overwriting the 8 bytes of junk with "MEADOW-G" so the rest of it spells "MEADOW-GRASS"), I was able to successfully load the fortress.

Bizarre! Can you recommend a hex editor to use? I haven't done this sort of thing for a long time. And how do I decompress the save (I assume you mean something beyond just opening the rar)?

EDIT: I figured out both. Thanks so much for all your help!

Marking "unable to reproduce" since the actual corruption event doesn't seem reproducible.

Reminder sent to: Toady One

A weird save corruption thing you might want to be aware of -- see Quietust's note at 0004960:0018987.
