0006157: Pressing Ctrl+A does not go back to "arena mode" unless announcements have been cleared
When you are in arena mode, and assume control of a creature, pressing CTRL-A does not release control of the assumed creature.
1) Start arena mode
2) create a creature
3) Assume control of it
4) Slaughter stuff on sight
5) Press CTRL-A
6) You're stuck in the body of the assumed creature
Intentional/Expected?
has duplicate 0006698resolved Footkerchief Cannot "unassume" control of creature after death in Arena 
related to 0000775new  Arena mode unresponsive when controlling unconscious creature.

Are there announcements? You often have to press Enter to clear announcements and then Ctrl-A (despite it telling you to press Esc). You could also check your key bindings- it could just be displaying Ctrl-A even when you've changed it.

During my testing today on an unrelated issue, I found that CTRL-A stops working if you die while controlling a creature. It works fine otherwise.
