0007417: Siege in summer of first year
Got invaded by goblins in the early summer (~Hematite 10) of my first year, before even any migrants came.
Small (I presume) siege - about ten goblins. All dwarves killed.

May have had to do with an increased fortress wealth due to me creating several gold statues at this point. Not entirely sure this is a bug, but reporting anyway since this feels like it's way, way too soon.

No save, sorry.

I had this happen too. Hopefully Toady allows traveling groups to travel through sites in the future, so we see this happen naturally. At the same time, I know it isn't supposed to be happening yet.

I had a siege of 10 goblins too, but in very early Autumn.
Summer seems a little too early.

I personally feel like anytime in the first year would be too early, but that's a personal opinion.

But the reported scenario is certainly far too soon, since training up a military that can deal with this situation would be impossible unless you focus your embark on military prowess to the detriment of everything else.

Is this affected by the proximity of goblin sites to your fortress?

Well, I was relatively close (3-4 tiles on the medium-sized world map) to goblin dark pits.

But still, if that's a feature, a warning on embarking ("WARNING: This location is very close to goblin territory. You may be attacked very early on." or something like that) would be nice so that I'd be warned next time around.

I'll leave this open a while for feedback, but as long as it's only happening to forts with nearby goblins, that seems intentional.

I also got an early siege - again 10 goblins, but unusually a wide mix of types among them. Sadly for them they pathed through the "ford" of the river and most of them were swept over the waterfall, where some died and the rest stayed treading water until it froze and killed them. I was under siege for most of the year, waiting for them to die!

The three that did manage to cross the river were promptly dealt with by fortress defences, although I did have to lure the last one into the traps, as she appeared to be put off by her friends' body parts strewn around.

Has anyone seen the behavior I've reported in 0007482 -- siegers wandering off (perhaps getting a bloody lip first, perhaps not) and the SIEGE notification not getting properly cleared? I'm seeing it all the time in Losing is !!Magic!!; I don't know why it wouldn't show up in vanilla, but I'd feel more confident if someone could confirm that it does.

Thats happen to me every time I play. Don't know why.
In one play I gather all dwarfs to fight with goblins, but all invaders are choose to stop Siege and run. No fight happen at all

AlfeG, does the "SIEGE" indicator stick around away after the invaders run or leave? If so, does "Succumb to the Invasion" have the effect of "Retire the Fortress"? If both of these are the case, please add this as corroboration to 7482!

40.08 - Late winter 1st year or so, a vile force of darkness - a mixed group of humans and dwarves arrive, punch one dog, then get scared off by a vulture flying overhead. Two of them climbed a tree and sat there doing nothing for months.

This is not intended at this point. I'm also having trouble getting a world where it happens on my own. If somebody has a first year save with an invasion that has just arrived, that should be enough to get a clue about what's going on.

PocheHuilee posted a save at this issue's duplicate 0007701 that is supposedly right before a siege arrives.

Save at summer of first year that reliably has a siege after a few minutes of play.

Strange. I haven't had any sieges at all throughout DF2014. More importantly, I've noticed that the [AMBUSHER] and [SIEGER] tokens were removed from the goblin entity at some point, every update since at least .40.05 and possibly earlier (can't recall when I first noticed it).

Anyone able to confirm whether the token was removed to bypass this issue, or have ambushes and sieges still been happening despite the lack of the token?

Here's a save with a siege just arrived, in autumn of the first year.

http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=9627 [^]

Seven goblins visible at the announcement; give them a few seconds and another three will turn up to make up the 10.

This is a world freshly created in 0.40.11.

Looks like it was defaulting to a single squad if there were no historical thief/snatcher nems available. I've just made them cancel now. There could still rarely be a few undead that attack in the first year -- that's just bad luck as things stand.
