Summary0008076: Game starts to stutter really badly
DescriptionThe game starts to stutter and lock up for a few seconds each time it stutters.

On the 9th of moonstone the game will start to stutter really badly. The FPS for me says 24 and when it's not suttering it's 24 but it will freeze for 1-2 seconds every few seconds. The time between stutters is somewhat random ranging from 1 second to 10 but it seems to come in bouts of 2-3 stutters. Leading up to the 9th it freezes for about half a second every 20ish seconds. It never did any stuttering before autum of the year it's at.

The fort is 6 years old I think.

Just sit at the top entrance to the base and watch until later in the day of the 9th moonstone, then you'll see the stutters really kick in.


Other than a save I have no idea how to reproduce this issue.
Additional InformationI have invasions and economy off. Pop cap is 120 hard, 100 soft. There is a spider stuck in a tree underground that you can't see that is generating a lot of pathing errors but that has been happening since day one of the fort.

The embark is 10x10 but I was able to get it to run on 40.09 without the large address patch for the purpose of reproducing this bug. Just stay looking at the top level where the dinning room is. Regular play of it (moving the camera around and doing stuff) will require the large address exe patch singe it will dip above 2GB by like 50-100MB.

Things I've tried (some with the use of DFHack):
Killing all non-dwarf creatures
Deleting the garbage item stack
Setting traffic paths to try to show them the way
Checking for trapped dwarves (wasn't able to find any)
Stopping the engraver to see if it was engravings

That save is on the third of moonstone so the wait till the bug is a short one.

I've got the same issue - I just upgraded to .10 from .09, moved my save over, and the thing is just freezing up every 10 seconds or so. I have not unretired this fort either, so I don't see how it would be related to that bug.

i have a very similar issue. this fort and world is started in vanilla (except for some very minor RAW modding) 44.11 save

Here's a stuttering 44.11 save.
It's not stuttering unplayably bad yet, but it's noticeably different from 44.10 and starting to get frustrating.
