This sounded general so I have tried it on the northeast bridge of Dorrenimar (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=5768 [^]): 1x1 pond on raising bridge that is in down state, 2 levels above the bottom of trench. Dwarves come with water and once they get on a tile adjacent to pond area they drop the water on the tile under bridge in 1 tick. They can even stay on said (1 tile wide) bridge.
Note wiki states (http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Activity_zone#Pit.2FPond [^]): "They will stand on the floor adjacent to the top of the ramp or hole, and toss the water onto the ramp or into the hole. This works even if there is a forbidden floor hatch covering the hole." So it seems this is just how currently pits and ponds work generally and not just for bridges: unit/water gets thrown one level lower, without checking if the tile, where given area is, can be passed.
