Summary0009302: Assigned performers don't actually perform (tavern/temple)
DescriptionI have a couple taverns in my current fortress and a number of performers. The fort is five years old, and the tavern at least four; I built it during the first year. Yet, strangely, the performers I assigned have done absolutely no performing despite having no labors enabled. Every performer-related skill they have is listed as (Rusty) - including poems and songs they know - and they haven't leveled in them at all. Nor have I ever seen them perform.
Steps To ReproduceBuild a tavern, assign a performer, watch as they never perform.

Potentially related to the bug where locations don't function properly unless designated with I instead of with dining tables.

Actually, after assigning the room an I designation, my performers started serving drinks appropriately.

Nope. Plenty of instruments, both imported and fortress-created; I have the instrument cap set to 20 for this tavern.

Unfortunately, no, I don't still have the save. It seems to be fixed in 42.03, though, so this could probably be closed.

Yeah, it seems to make no difference at all for a dwarf, if he is assigned performer to the tavern or not. Both performers and non performers perform irregularily.

Also, I've seen dwarves that are assigned to the performer slot perform a 'serve drink' job. That should probably be restricted to tavern keepers.

I can confirm this behavior.

Dwarves assigned to perform in the temple do nothing and dwarves assigned to perform in the tavern just serve drinks all day.

Serving drinks often leads to early deaths from alcohol poisoning, as dwarves will literally drink themselves to death via being over-served while lingering in the tavern vicinity, and spare performers (& tavern keepers) inflate this problem

i mention that in reference to @martinuzz & @Halnoth's comments, 1 maintained & dedicated tavern keeper between thirty or so dwarves will not be harmful compared to my prior example of performers serving drinks on top of tavern keepers in the same cycle (because the performers cannot play the instruments as per the highlighted issue report)
