0000958: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error
When I try to find a site in the Embark screen it start's looking for a site but when searching reaches about 63 (when it found a site maybe, I don;t deviate too much from my usual parameters but when I change them it still happens but probably not at the same number) then the game crashes and a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error pops up saying the application has requested the Runtime to terminate in a unusual way.

I don't know how this can be reproduced, but on my comp it happens any time I do what was mentioned in the description.
My laptop (a Toshiba Tecra S11-013) is brand new with no changes made to it.

This didn't happen on my desktop which is running the old v0.28.181.40d on Vista.

I'm using Phoebus' Graphic Set v1.6 for DF v0.31.02 found here: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=52186.0 [^]

If necessary I have the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.5

I have made a number of changes to the init.text what I have in there fallows:

[WOUND_COLOR_NONE:7:0:1] No recorded active wounds on the part. Default = white
[WOUND_COLOR_MINOR:6:0:0] Any damage that doesn't have functional/structural consequences (might be heavy bleeding though). Default = brown
[WOUND_COLOR_INHIBITED:6:0:1] Any muscular, structural or functional damage without total loss. Default = yellow
[WOUND_COLOR_FUNCTION_LOSS:3:0:1] An important function of the part is completely lost, but the part is structurally sound (or at least partially intact). Default = bright cyan
[WOUND_COLOR_BROKEN:4:0:1] The part has lost all structural integrity or muscular ability. Default = bright red
[WOUND_COLOR_MISSING:0:0:1] The part is completely gone. Default = dark gray

Are you playing on a large-sized world? If so, then it's a duplicate of 0000002.
