Are you using a tileset? (0009905) If so, can you reproduce the crash without it? |

I am playing vanilla Dwarf Fortress with the original ASCII graphics. I've observed that it seems to crash after playing after a moderate span of time(an hour or so), so perhaps it may have something to do with running out of memory; although it has happened before if I load up any save-file(is loading saved games strenuous on RAM?) and go through the aforementioned Steps to Reproduce.
I can confirm being able to reliably reproduce this issue as well, both with and without a tileset, both with and without dfhack. |
After a bit more testing, I suspect this bug is related to window resizing. If I run in windowed mode with a fixed tile size and do not resize the window I can no longer reproduce. Setting auto-detect resolution causes the bug to happen again, both in windowed and full-screen.
I might suggest upgrading this to Reproducibility: Always.
In the interim, setting fixed tile size and avoiding resizes and auto settings seems to be a possible workaround. |

Also happens in Linux and in 0.43.03.
Running Linux, I encounter this crash if I maximize the DF window, select "Change material", and start typing in "pig tail"
If I don't resize the window, it doesn't seem to always crash. Rather, it might sometimes hang first and then crash, or work just fine.
This is the only search term I've managed to find to crash the game in several minutes of playing around with it. |
Is this happening with 32-bit or 64-bit DF, or both?
Also, I couldn't reproduce this with resizing on OS X (64-bit DF) with a couple tries. Have you made any raw changes? Besides sporkmonger, is this occurring without utilities?
In case this is save-specific, a save may be useful. |

I can confirm that this issue happens on windows 10 with no mods or utilities. It does appear to be linked to resizing the window, but it seems to be highly situational.
It seems like you need to have resized the window at some point *before* opening the manager window to see this crash. In addition, the "Amount of <thing>" needs to be set to any value other than "items". I reliably get this crash if I search under materials for "PLANT ". It seems like only certain search terms trigger the crash. Also, I occasionally don't get this crash if the "available is <condition>" isn't "at least" or "less than", but I didn't test every possible combination.
Edit: Version v0.43.05

I've still been unable to reproduce this, but it could have something to do with the list height being handled inconsistently for large screens. |

Just saw this on OS X filtering on "iron." |
Is this occurring the first time you load a world, or does it happen after you've saved and/or loaded a new world? |

This happens on my fortress as well. Any time I go into details and try to specify a historical figure or particular event to carve a statue out of for example it crashes. It does so reliably every time. Windows 7, Phoebus tile set. 43.05 64 bit

This appears to be the same issue as 0009905, so I'm going to resolve this issue in favor of that. |
