Summary | 0001034: Militia Commander Stuck on "Attend Meeting"
Description | My militia commander, currently the only member of my fortress military, is stuck on the task "Attend Meeting". He stands next to the armor stand I have designated as a barracks, and at which I have designated his squad (which consists of himself) to train. He continues to do this, even when starving and dehydrated. When I free the armor stand, he undrafts, turning into a peasant, and recieves the unhappy thought associated with being relieved from the military. When I re-designate the stand as a barracks and set his squad to train there, he continues to stand next to it with the task "Attend Meeting", doing absolutely nothing. He will still obey orders to kill, however. This cycle is simply disallowing him from individual training, and I cannot find a way to stop it. Since he does not have any other significant positions of leadership in my fortress, save for being a militia commander, and no trade caravans have arrived yet, I believe it is safe to assume that he is not attempting to meet with a diplomat or representative. I have tried making two armor stands, and assigning both of them as barracks where his squad can train. He simply sticks to one, and continues the "Attend Meeting" task. I free up one of them, and he moves to the other, doing the same thing.

It might be helpful if you upload a save where the militia commander is exhibiting this behavior to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^] |

I've seen this behavior before, I don't quite understand this one yet myself. You might try issuing a squad move command and or temporarily assigning him to a burrow in an attempt to get his head rewired. You may also have to remove the barracks again. I have a hunch this behavior is related to the problems I'm getting in 0000733 |

I just had this happen. I got him to go attend the meeting with the expedition leader/eat/sleep by setting the squad to inactive. |

Based on 0000428 in order to get your dwarf to do what you think he should be doing you need to put him into inactive mode through the squad. |

I've just had a similar problem with a non-militia dwarf who has been assigned a burrow while on 'attend meeting'. He just froze in place, getting sleepy hungry and dehydrated, until I unassigned him from the burrow. Looks like 0004373 to me. [EDIT] It's repeatable, and it doesn't only apply to 'attend meeting'. In the following save 'Ushat Unibzeg' is a stressed dwarf going to drop something off at a stockpile. If, on loading, you set him to the burrow he will drop the thing he is carrying and freeze. I've experienced this, and it seems to be when a dwarf wants a consolation meeting with the mayor but they are on military duty and the mayor is busy. |
