Summary0010638: Expedition leader imprisoned/dies in raid, reassigned to another dwarf later imprisoned in same raid, causes permabroken nobles
DescriptionI was testing raids on a very unprepared 1x1 embark when I decided to send a squad of five including the expedition leader and the commander on a razing mission to the goblin fortress. I believe the events went as follows:
1. Squad travels to dark fortress with a population of over 1000 (one dwarf having at least proficient tactician)
2. Expedition leader becomes imprisoned during mission
3. The role of expedition leader is reassigned to another dwarf partaking in the same raid
4. Said dwarf also becomes imprisoned, role of expedition leader is not reassigned
5. The player is unable to assign new nobles (besides military captains if the commander makes it back), as the expedition leader is said by the game to be traveling

Additional InformationThe role of expedition leader (along with other unassigned roles such as bookkeeper) on the noble screen disappears after saving and reloading.

On an unrelated note, during the several times I've attempted to reproduce this, the squad tends to forgo their equipment on a fresh embark before being sent straight to their mission, leading some of my squad to sometimes come back as Legendary Wrestlers, Dodgers, Observers, etc. simply from raiding one goblin fortress. The squad also succeeds its tactics checks a bit too much against a 414-year-old dark fortress with a population of over 1000.

If names help, in the save of the aftermath, the original expedition leader was Rovod Shothail. Catten Boatjoyous became the new expedition leader during the winter raze mission after Rovod was imprisoned, but Catten ultimately didn't return due to also being imprisoned.

According to legends, the second person was also imprisoned at the same time, and only became expedition leader afterward. It appears the check for prisoner status had a typo, so that person was in the expedition leader candidate pool. Should be fixed for next time, including booting all prisoners from non-hereditary positions to patch up the old saves.
