Summary | 0001113: Blunt weapons/objects/shields can get stuck-in
Description | What it says on the tin. My militia commander is wielding an artifact rose gold mace, and looking over her combat reports, I see it has a habit of getting lodged firmly in the shattered skulls of her enemies. A quick arena test with lots of dwarfs with maces shows multiple stuck-ins in the combat logs. Several of them in crushed skulls, a number in the upper bodies of live dwarfs, two right upper arms, and one in which dwarf 6 lodges a rose gold mace in dwarf 4's first toe, right foot. Somehow. Even more improbably, he then proceeds to twist it in the wound. Repeating the test with steel war hammers also gives some odd stuck-ins.
Steps To Reproduce | Set up a large arena free-for-all, no armor and blunt weapons. Sift through the combat reports; you should have some stuck-ins here and there.

I can't be completly sure but I believe this is normal behaviour. Weapons get stuck in things during combat. Creatures should be able to try and remove them again but that may be adventure mode only. |

As part of the weapon rebalancing, some formerly blunt weapons have edged components - it's that edged attack that's causing the "stuck-in", so it's likely intended behaviour. Check the RAWs if you're curious. If you're still not convinced, a mace might have spikes on it, and those could get stuck in something... |

"I can't be completly sure but I believe this is normal behaviour. Weapons get stuck in things during combat. Creatures should be able to try and remove them again but that may be adventure mode only." It's unclear to what degree it's intended behavior. There are pretty ridiculous extremes -- you can pick up a troglodyte corpse and hit another troglodyte with it and it'll stick in the wound. There are no reality checks being done. "As part of the weapon rebalancing, some formerly blunt weapons have edged components - it's that edged attack that's causing the "stuck-in", so it's likely intended behaviour." That's just the morningstar. The mace, flail, war hammer, and maul all still use blunt attacks, and they still get stuck. |

Checking the raws I see the only formerly blunt weapon with an edged attack is the morning star. Maces and war hammers only have a blunt attack, and thus shouldn't really be getting stuck in anything. *Especially* not toes. Edit- Ninja'd by foot. By a good margin at that... shouldn't dawdle so much while typing. |

Yea, I think I got confused wrt Maces and Morningstars, might have thought they were the same things! |

I can personally report getting my maces repeatedly stuck in mountain goats. Although the mental image is hilarious, it is also not quite right. |

Also bucklers can be used to bash enemies, and I have a combat log showing the buckler stuck-in a Rhesus Macaque. Then the Hammerdwarf twisted the embedded +copper buckler+ around in the Rhesus Macaque's upper body. This appears to have freed the buckler from the wound, as he then proceeded to bash the Macaque again with the buckler. |
