Summary | 0002560: Remove construction task prioritized too high, labor can't be disabled, children help out
Description | "Remove construction" tasks are prioritized above everything else, causing dwarves to stop all other assignments and even getting dwarven children to participate. This can lead to extra fun when a lever pull to shut off a river flooding the fortress is cancelled to deconstruct a floor.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Build a long strip of wall (b, C, w) 2. Allow it to be constructed 3. Designate several spaces to be removed (d, n)
Additional Information | Children are otherwise unable to be assigned labors, so they shouldn't be available to remove constructions.

So, don't assign so many spaces to be deconstructed. With few dwarves, this could be a problem, but if you have alot of dwarves, it shouldn't be a problem. This seems to be part facepalm and part suggestion since I don't neccesarily see a bug here. |

I've never noticed a dwarf cancel a job to go kill a wall. Also, children have been able to remove constructions and pull levers for as long as I can remember, I think that's intended. |

"lever pull to shut off a river flooding the fortress is cancelled to deconstruct a floor" -untrue. It is impossible. |

However, the pull-job gets delayed indefinitely until there is someone who has nothing else to do, though, same as dumping stuff. The difference is that children don't participate in dumpathlons. (Which means that quantum dumping is the most effective way to get all the precious goblinite from the outside battlefield inside the fortress walls.) |
