|0004318||Dwarf Fortress||Dwarf Mode -- Items||public||2011-03-24 12:39||2012-02-26 04:46|

|Target Version||Fixed in Version||0.31.23|
|Summary||0004318: Fill pond job causes dwarves to fill a bucket with thousands of units of water, work slowly.|
|Description||The fill pond job now seems to cause dwarves to fill buckets with massive amounts of water causing the job to slow to a crawl as they haul a bucket probably weighing several tons to the pond site.|
Despite the large amounts of water in the bucket, the job only creates 1/7 water at the site.
|Steps To Reproduce||Dig a hole, make it a pond. Make a bucket, make a well, watch as dwarves slow to a crawl from the massive amounts of water in their buckets.|
|Additional Information||Water was sourced from a well. Unknown if it occurs with other types of water source.|

This is happening to me as well. Furthermore, forbidding the bucket mid-haul causes tremendous amounts of cancellation spam, as dwarves apparently try to fill the pond with this specific bucket, at the rate of about two cancel messages every tick. Unforbidding the bucket does not stop this, but removing the pond zone does.
Other things of interest: The bucket has three instances of water in it. Eight units of "water laced with mud", a unit of "water" and another 13210 units of "water". The water laced with mud has a value of 8; the single water has a value of -13200 and the small lake costs 13210.

|Looking through the stocks on my 31.18 fort, I seem to have this same bug, or at least one very similar to it. I have one bucket with stacks of 3 stagnant water and 21 stagnant water, and another bucket with stacks of 8 and 35 stagnant water. Both buckets are in my booze stockpile as if someone had tried to water a thirsty dwarf and the water values seem to be sane (one per water). I assume that the water came from my well, but I can't be sure. This fort has done some pond filling before, but nothing more than a bucket here and there to solidify magma.|

|I tried filling a pond from both a water source zone and using a well, and the bucket contained 10 each time. I'm going to need a save for this one -- it'll have to be before the bucket is filled for me to diagnose it (preferable with a dwarf heading to fill it). dffd.wimbli.com is a good place to upload the saves.|

Here you go. Of course as always with me the save is modded but hopefully you still get everything you need out of it.
There should be a green guy near where the save puts you down at carrying a bucket to my wells to do the fill pond job.
EDIT: Actually when I loaded that save again after copying it to continue playing he actually filled the bucket as normal. Must be the first time he did it in a year, so maybe save loading has something to do with preventing it.
But just keep watching the wells for a bit and the guy filling the other pond should come by for a refill as well, he filled up his bucket with thousands of units after the first guy did.
