Summary | 0005463: Dwarf necromancers that die during siege come back as ghostly, unremovable necromancers
Description | If you have a dwarf necromancer in a siege, and he dies, and you toss the body into magma for example, you can't memorialize them at a slab. They stick around forever, and will reanimate any corpse they see for all eternity. I can understand why'd they would come back, they are necromancers after all... But there should be a way to forcibly put them to rest. I've had to ditch all dwarf corpses in this run into magma just to keep from fighting a zombie everytime someone dies.
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Create a fort in Fortress mode 2) Get besieged by the walking dead 3) Kill a dwarf necromancer 4) Destroy the body (toss into magma or whatever) 5) In a year or so, the Ghostly (trade) Necromancer will rise and begin animating a butcher's shop full of teeth and skins and your catacombs.

thank god i still had the 2 dwarf necro corpses from the last invasion - i just hadnt gotten them into coffins yet (when the dead arrive, i suddenly have dozens to bury - it's like that scene in Yojimbo where the only guy in town that's doing any business is the coffin maker). One of them spawned a ghost - which promptly got a half dozen animal parts going. Got them into their boxes and got it sorted - but yeah, you'd think people who are raising the dead into armies would be noteworthy enough to carve their names onto a slab. I got lucky. |

This obliterated my fortress :( Necromancer ghost found the refuse pile with over 90 dead bodies in it. |

I have had this problem as well; ghostly dwarven necromancer wanders through the fort reanimating all the bodies out of coffins, can't engrave a slab to him. |

Resolved the necromancer part of this. We've got 0005130 for the other bit as Kogut says. |
