Dupe of 0000744 ? |

Probably not -- this is more likely due to the ballista bolts having a 0 missing from their weight or something. |

Ballista bolts seem to be missing any weight or physics information in the raws. |

I can confirm this and add that it is not just clothes, also skin. I hit a monkey in the head and all it got was bruises. If this is a raw issue is there a fix we can do without waiting for toady? |

Tested and failed: I tried adding [ATTACK:EDGE:300:10000:stab:stabs:NO_SUB:2000] (the line from crossbow bolt but with much higher numbers) and nothing happened. |

this goes for catapaults too. I think testing this was the first time I ever hit anything witha catapault in like 4 years of this game |

Confirmed still present in 34.02. I created a ballista at embark and fired wooden bolts through a pen of 40 hens and then a dwarf meeting zone; out of 20 or so targets hit there were only 2 hen fatalities (bone in brain kills). The other targets were merely bruised, with some occasional vomiting. While the bolts are wood, these are naked targets that would be in much worse shape if hit by a wooden bolt from a handheld crossbow. From past experience, it seems upgrading to metal ballista bolts makes them slightly more lethal, yet even masterwork bolts regularly produce nothing more than bruising, particularly on clothed and armored targets. |

I saw someone report that blunt weapons were now working, so I recreated the above test on 34.06, using wood and metal boltheads. Summary: 7 shots (3 wood, 2 copper, 2 iron): 53 hits. Killed: 1 dwarf, 2 dogs, 2 geese, 3 rabbits (1 in 7 hits on densely packed targets with no armor). Kills only seem to occur on head shots (skull through brain) or torn spine tissue in the dwarf's case (suffocation); occasional bleeding deaths. Interestingly, only rabbits were "propelled" by shots. Geese and dogs and anything larger were not propelled. I seem to recall in 40d seeing goblins propelled by hits? Propelled issues are mostly covered at 0000344. |

Since weight would seem to be the major component behind ballista damage, and 'propelling' as well, could it be that ballista bolts (and likely catapult stones) have somehow "lost weight" due to some change? |
