Summary 0006446: Birds claim nest boxes behind tightly closed doors
Revision 2014-02-23 13:08 by Footkerchief
Description Extension of bug 0000797. Situation illustrated in this animated GIF:

http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb194/eidako/DuckHumpingTurkeyCage.gif [^]

A pet duck (green "d") has claimed the nest box four tiles south of it, inside of a turkey pen with a tightly closed door. The duck goes prone every time it tries to open the door, stands up, and tries again, remaining on the same tile for months. Meanwhile the turkey is preempted from using the box intended for it -- egg production has been gridlocked thanks to the duck.

Now the nasty part. You would think that forbidding the door would make the duck give up and release the box. Nope. Making the door forbidden makes the duck claim the nest box in the goose pen next door, also behind a tightly closed door. The nest box in the turkey pen remains claimed. By forbidding the doors one by one, the rotten duck will claim all six boxes for itself.
