Summary0002151: Mandate for "make native gold items" satisfied merely by mining out ore
DescriptionMy baron mandated making 3 native gold items. (Note: not "gold" but specifically "native gold" - he has a preference for it)

Some time later, after mining out some native gold but not yet producing anything from it, I noticed the mandate had disappeared and the baron had a happy thought for a successful mandate.

It seems that merely mining ore is considered "making an item", which sounds like a bug.

From an RP perspective you could say the baron is merely encouraging mining a particular ore, instead of mandating manufacturing. Kinda like the "X mining jobs" demands of the guild nobles back in the 2d version.

From a gameplay perspective, I think I don't want to complain about an easy-to-satisfy mandate, so I'd probably vote to retain this bug as a feature. :-D or maybe rewording the mandate to "mine x units of yyy ore" instead of "manufacture native yyy item".

From another perspective, the actual bug is that the list for 'favorite metals' of a dwarf's likings ends up containing 'native x' instead of 'x', where x is any metal with a 'native' ore. I don't think I have seen a dwarf who likes silver, copper or gold, but instead it is horn silver, native copper, or native gold.

Until I drowned him, I had a mayor who preferred native copper specifically. Using dfprospector I discovered there was no native copper on my map (thus the drowning). My metalsmiths spent considerable time in prison. The point is I could have never fulfilled the mandate.

With the fix for 0000823, mandates for native metal objects should no longer be possible
