quoting ptb_ptb : Oh yeah, in the bug report you should mention that disabling dfhack doesn't make any difference (I just checked).

FWIW the same happens the next year when the caravan arrives again : the gamecrashes with the last line in gamelog being

The outpost liaison Solon Ginetbesmar from Fath Likot has arrived.
A caravan from Fath Likot has arrived.

Wow. Maybe there is some noble in the caravan or the liaison who has some paradoxical relationship. If only you knew who you could send out an adventurer assassin to kill him/her. :P

Same problem in 40.14
It happened with liaisons coming from any civilization. This only happens for me if I retire a fort and leave it for awhile, then come back. In the world I was in, I was playing between two forts and both had this problem.

Only way to fix was to abandon and reclaim the fort.

Ah, this may well be the same as
http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=8362 [^]
after further research.

@codyo : Did you generate the world in DF 0.40.14 or did it start with a DF 0.40.13 save that you loaded in 40.14?

I started in 40.14

Had the same issue in my 40.24 world (affected two different fortresses):

- Never adventured.
- Parent (Dwarven) Civ ruled by Goblin nobility.
- Disabled TWBT, DFHack to no effect.
- Would crash immediately on arrival of dwarven caravan + liaison.

What DID work to resolve was switching from Phoebus to ASCII tileset. Caravan arrived without issue, and I was able to save and switch back to Phoebus without any problems.

Nevermind. Switching tileset was not the actual answer. This issue again cropped up with the next caravan, and no combination of tilesets resolved the crashes.

On about 1/50 reload attempts I can get past the crash. Not sure how/why the caravan arrives successfully but no individual change seems to be the correct one. Even tried preventing wages from arriving but it still crashed with "wagons bypassed site" as the final line in the gamelog.

But sometimes, and painstakingly randomly, it makes it past the crash and the caravan arrives.

This seems to be an issue still with 0.43.03 - I am running on my 2nd embark in this world, so the normal rhythm of the game is askew. Swithing to ASCII did indeed not have a fix. Sometimes the game crashes the second the Caravan arrives, at other times it manages to drive some squares before the game crashes.

I have tried with DFHACK disabled. Elven caravans made it though. It is only the Dwarven Caravan that seems to provoke a crash.

For fun I tried to deconstruct my trade post prior to the arrival of the Caravan. Then rebuild it elsewhere. This, too, does not prevent the crash. I suspect it being the liaison that somehow triggers it?

glitch is reproducible in 43.05-x64 as well

Windows 10
Version 47.04
DFHack 47.04-r3

Caravan from both humans and dwarves crashed the game. I was able to get around humans by retiring and unretiring the fort, but it happened again with dwarven caravan.

The crash didnt happen until I accidentally tried to trade wood to elves, but it could be coincidence. Gamelog does not show caravan arriving, but it happens during the first week of a new season.

DFHack and TWBT turned off doesn't affect crash.
