0010661 relates to bird-men always flying continously and never actually touching the ground. This bug-report suggests conflicting states.

In my previously mentioned report, birds can spawn idle and not flying on the ground in adventure mode but when disturbed will fly and never come back down again. Potentially skewering their AI pathfinding a lot depending on how its made.

If Toady is on hand to answer (on a question with potentially 10 years of history), is bird/flyer pathfinding meant to rise & fall to the ground? Because this would explain the intensive 'air bobbing' behaviour of clumps of birds.

Of course, in this context "on the ground" means "lying flat" not "touching the ground". I wonder if the game considers you prone or supine when "on the ground".

Still an issue in 47.01. I find this bug an annoying and hilarious logical fallacy, because a broken-foot birdman cannot stand up mid air. Thus being reduced to crawling, mid air.

It almost entirely gets rid of your ability to fly away from a fight as a bird person. Broken leg? Now, even if you're flying, you're limited to the speed that you could achieve if you were crawling on the ground. Good luck escaping that night creature!
