0011790: Dark Fortress Beak Dogs And Trolls Not Sleeping At Night
I wanted to assault dark fortress at night to reduce lag but no beak dog or troll appears to be sleeping and I went down their working pits to confirm this.

I intentionally triggered them at EARLY day first so they could start to exist after my initial genocide to later assault during MIDnight but no one is sleeping.
1. Kill nearly everyone during one night.
2. Exit dark fortress.
3. Return to fortress at dawn to spawn beak dogs and trolls who didn't show up due to unit limitations.
4. Leave (it's going to lag).
5. Return at night and lose your shit.

I thought about slaying periodically forming up troll patrols one by one but up to 6 at once show up during those encounters for a civilization that has too many of them or perhaps only beak dogs are left in huge numbers in my case?

Not a bug, [ALL_ACTIVE] activity between beak dogs & trolls keep them awake day and night without simulating "sleeping" out of sight for other times of day animals experience in adventure mode. Trolls only need to sleep when they're physically drowsy and have [LOW_LIGHT_VISION:10000] for the caverns like dwarves make them excellent night spotters.

All of these details are profiled in the df raws, and if you have any difficulty understanding code tokens, the wiki is a useful resource for helping understand the behaviour associations.

In vanilla DF they are scooped up by a number of RAW tokens interacting with each other (creature: [EVIL] + [SEMI_INTELLIGENT] + entity: [USE_EVIL_ANIMALS]) and would typicallly be non-historical and therefore replenish their numbers when out of sight.
