0011895: missing CXXABI_1.3.9
Got an error message saying that I was missing libstdc++.so.6 upon first launching. Ran sudo apt-get install libstdc++.so.6 in my command line, tried launching again, but then I got an error saying that libstdc++.so.6 was missing CXXABI_1.3.9. I then deleted libstdc++.so.6 from df_linux/libs and on a whim, replaced it with another file called libstdc++.so.6 from the bins folder of The Stanley Parable. The game launched.
Launch the game on my ubuntu version, doesn't work at first
I was using kernel 5.15.0-41-generic, x86_64

https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Installation#Linux [^]

"If you see any errors related to libstdc++ when starting DF (for example, "version `CXXABI_1.3.8' not found"), try removing libstdc++.so.6 and libgcc_s.so.1 from the "libs" folder."

Or you could install one of the Ubuntu packages - https://packages.ubuntu.com/ [^] - and while you're at it bug the maintainer to update them.

Ziusudra: if you mean the "dwarf-fortess" package, that is outdated (as you pointed out) so I would not recommend it at this time. It's also maintained by a third party, so it would not receive help with dependency issues on this bug tracker.
