0001329: Magma behaves oddly
Twice I've had dwarfs dodge into magma. This isn't too strange in itself - what IS strange is that they fall 75 z-levels plus before the program notices they're in magma at all, and they then start to drown rather than melt and die.

Moreover, in the process of falling to the centre of the earth, they can discover materials and magma seas... despite the fact they're falling through solid magma.
Not tried dropping dwarfs in magma yet. However, getting them to dodge into magma is relatively easy - civilians dwarfs on a narrow walkway attacked by just about anything works.

On further inspection, dwarf falling through magma only stops when he lands on something (semi-molten rock at 80 odd levels down). He *then* bleeds to death as the magma melts his skin off slowly.

Are you sure you don't have temperature turned off and that he's just dying from the fall? With temperature off magma functions much like water, and (I think) creatures will drown in it.
