I'm experiencing this same issue. I have two squads ("Keys" and "Tails") and the game will crash unless I set Tails to inactive. Due to lack of weapons, the entire squad is set to use the archer uniform but are actually wrestlers and the game time is mid-summer, so I doubt that is related.

I've pretty much narrowed this down to something with my militia commander, who is the leader of the Tails squad that is causing my crash. If I use the military menu to appoint a new squad leader (which has the side-effect of changing my appointed militia commander in the nobles screen), the game doesn't crash.

A note: I noticed that I have to do this through the military screen, though. Changing the militia commander in the nobles screen causes the "militia commander" title to drop from the previous one, but he "reacquires" his position shortly after (which ends in the game crashing, since he's still militia commander when whatever is happening is happening). Not sure if this is related, a separate bug, or just some kind of nuance that I'm unaware of.

Possibly related: my militia commander was recently injured and taken to the hospital. A doctor is performing surgery on him at the time the game crashes, when the squad should just be "activating" for training.

Info about my militia commander and things:

* He ONLY has Hunter skills enabled.
* As stated previously, this squad is set to use the standard archer uniform.
* He's NOT newly appointed, but he is a "replacement" after the previous one died.
* My fortress is being assaulted by goblins (not technically a siege, but I'm locked in for the time being).
* He was recently injured in a battle and taken to the hospital (see above).

Final interesting note: manually ordering the squad to station somewhere does not cause a crash, but once the move order is canceled (causing the squad to return to the training schedule) the game crashes shortly after. Setting a "Station at [point], 10 minimum" schedule does not seem to have the same effect and the game will still crash.

I was getting a similar, BEX code crash and figured out it was the military that was causing it. It doesn't crash if i disband all the squads. I'm going to try to narrow it down and check if its a single dwarfs problem.

Yeah, this is the squad info disconnect bug. Saves will be patched for 0.31.07, but I'm still trying to figure out how the disconnect happens in the first place.
