0002778: Diplomat goes insane, still in fortress when abandoned, same diplomat arrives insane in new game
My liaison arrived insane/running around babbling. In the previous game in the same world, my liaison was shut in because of a siege and went insane. I abandoned that game, possibly before the liaison died.

I'd expect a diplomat to be considered dead and in need of replacement as soon as he goes insane, at least realistically.
Fixed in 0.40.01?

I just attempted to induce this in version 0.40.06, and it looks like it isn't something that will happen anymore - I embarked, used DFHack to summon a Dwarven caravan, waited for the liaison meeting to end, then cleared the liaison's "leave timer" to make it go insane, at which point the liaison was stricken by melancholy and became Chief Medical Dwarf (in a subsequent test, the liaison went stark raving mad and reverted to its original profession), and a new Outpost Liaison immediately appeared in the Civilization screen.

I haven't tested this with Human or Elven diplomats, but it's likely that the same thing will happen.
