0003526: Trader Mental Illness
When a dwarf caravan came through, the trader was stricken with melancholy and never left. Eventually his guards/animals died and no other caravan has shown up since
I'm not sure how to try this other than keep observing caravans on other profiles to see if it happens to them too.

There's not much point in making a report private, just as a note.

That being said, why do you think this is a bug? Like your own citizens, a trader can suffer from insanity if left on their own too long.

The lack of subsequent caravans may be due to the fact that your parent civilization has died off, you've angered them in some way - possibly the death of their trader - or that it's not trading season time. Alternatively the game hasn't properly "off loaded" the trader from the game and is delaying subsequent traders.

this also happens whenever you "wall them in" - i.e. by closing the forts only entrance

Probably user confusion or maybe covered under the Trade Depot bug.
