Summary | 0004394: Egg-laying animals, once trained for war, stop claiming nest boxes and laying eggs |
Description | see steps to reproduce for in depth. |
Steps To Reproduce | There's a bit of modding here, changed helmet snakes RAWS entry by replacing [PET-EXOTIC] with [PET][TRAINABLE]
Embark with helmet snake pets, build nesting boxes. Snakes will claim nesting boxes. Build kennels and train war dogs (er... war snakes). Nesting boxes become unclaimed, snakes stop laying and, as far as i can tell, breeding. |

Moved the TRAINABLE tag to the MALE caste only. ... testing
Eggs have been forbidden for two years and still not hatched? Is this a different problem or are my studs not doing their job? (also no rots?)

I have noticed this happening with dogs too. Once all my dogs were war trained I got no more puppies. I will add this as a more general bug if I can't find a duplicate. |

Nah. War dogs breeds just fine. If this issue exists, it probably is confined to egg-laying critters. |

@MaDeR Levap - maybe your dogs were "spored" before training? |

I agree with MaDer. The only problem I've run into is if you hit the pop limit for dogs. Then they stop reproducing. Until you loose a few to get below the limit. Then all the females get instantly pregnant and you have a bonanza!
http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010_Talk:Dog [^] has some comments on people embarking with a male war dog and normal females. You could try that if you wanted to verify it for yourself.

Tested with (modded) war ducks, and they seem to lay eggs normally after being trained. I'm going to assume this was fixed with the training rewrite in 0.34.06. |
