0000623: Cannot build constructions over empty spaces (INCLUDES SAVE)
Every time I try to build a construction (from the build menu, i.e. floors), dwarves will stop building as soon as they reach tiles that are over an empty space. Such tiles can be placed from a group (although they are never built), but not individually over thin air, as a pathfinding issue (?) will prevent them from being able to access materials.
(For further clarification, when building DIRECTLY over an empty space, even FROM a pre-existing floor, the list of building materials will simply never be detected, and the build made impossible)

Yesterday worked fine, as I built a bridge as well as a house over water (in DF2010), but since this morning I've been unable to build anything suspended (new world). Restarting the game and turning cave-ins off does not work.
Simply try building a floor or wall over an empty space.

If saving/loading doesn't fix the problem, that means you should be able to upload a save in which these constructions aren't working. http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^]

Confirmation in Windows 7 for this bug on this map.

"No non-economic building material" is listed for for valid, pathable tiles over open air - and as noted, group designating doesn't help - the dwarves stop once they hit a tile over open air.

This only occurred after I built one floor, though. As mentioned, saving and reloading didn't help, nor did suspend/unsuspend.

Might have something to do with the stone stockpile or location? I was able to build a long bridge in another fort.

Not seeing this behavior myself (Vista). I designated 1 floor over open space, then two (one in a inaccessible location due to designating both at once), then a fourth that was on the end of those two after they were built.

So in the end it looked like this:

I've been using blocks for construction, I tried producing stones, and deleting both the stone and bars/blocks stockpiles, and still encounter the same problem.

Tried redownloading DF2010, created a new world, started over, and floors are working normally. Still not sure what's the cause of the problem.

Yea, I think it's something to do with just that map?
I can't build hanging floors anywhere on that map.
But on other maps it's fine.

Confirmed being a map-only thing. I started a new map using the same DF files, and everything is working properly.

This and other issues are being marked resolved because they fit the symptoms of the general pathing bug described by issues 0000018 and 0000070. If this issue represents an additional bug, it will most likely present different symptoms in 31.03, and a new report should be submitted.
