The issue is in line 2636 of language_words.txt in the raws. Replacing it with " [NOUN:fish:fish] " should fix the issue. |

Just curious, why is this a bug? "Fishes" is indeed an acceptable plural for "fish".
Here (southwestern Ontario), the use of "fish" vs. "fishes" seems to be as follows:
Fish:
- A mass noun: We ate some fish for breakfast.
- A singular animal: He caught a fish yesterday.
- A singular species: A fish we can't live without is the Bluefin Tuna.
- Plural animals (sometimes): There are thousands of fish in this lake!
Fishes:
- Plural animals (sometimes): She counted 17 individual fishes in this river.
- Plural species: The most often consumed fishes are tuna, salmon, and tilapia.

Yeah, this was one of the rare conscious decisions in the language raws, rather than a typo. "Fishes" is a valid, if not often used, plural form -- the way names work in DF, using fish again is sort of redundant in comparison, although most names that use a plural of fish are probably silly anyway. If using proper sorts of plurals matters later, we'll have this and other words to get right in the raws.
