0006666: Trolls don't attack in adventure mode
I'm guessing they're supposed to attack. I've been break-dancing in front of two trolls in separate worlds and they don't seem to care about my crazy skills anywhere.

Here's a save file (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/91013373/TrollDoesntAttack.rar [^]).
1. Load the save.
2. Move towards the troll.

I can confirm this. Had the same thing happen in adventure mode. It wouldn't respond to my speaking with it either.

Trolls are still passive in adventure mode.

A recent save would be helpful. Are these wild or domesticated trolls?

Probably the trolls in the goblin sites, which would count as domesticated, though I think 'civilized' might be a better term.

They'll sometimes attack back when you attack as well, but they don't attack on sight or anything.

A while back (version 40.5 anyway), I ran into a troll recruit, which I guess was a wild troll, which continued aggro.

Footkerchief, would a save from 40.05 be fine? After I do this prisioner rescue operation, I can post one.

Domesticated trolls, in a goblin site. Can provide a save, yeah. Almost all of them are passive, but a few are at "no quarter" to begin with. They were killing the framerate, so I just ran through and slaughtered 150 or so of them. I think I only got half, and the rest of them just sat there silently.

Will upload a save in a bit.

I had a crash right after I did a wait one hour to get one of the kids to catch up, feh. So, I'll upload a save now, which is back to where I am trying to kill this demon.

It's version 40.05 and while I did give trolls the ability to talk and kobolds be able to speak normally, it's otherwise unchanged.

The trolls that I'm near are just ones which haven't been reduced to a quivering pile of jelly. Also, theres a bunch of trolls chasing around the demon and trying to attack it (they never do land a hit) and are friendly to me. Theres also apparently an insurrection going on. Theres a bunch of reports of 'I attacked me', no idea what's up with that.

Edit: Doing blood drinking will REALLY rile them up.

Possibly part of the same issue - minotaurs don't attack in adv. mode either. 40.07.

Trogolodyes also fail to attack, and when I hack one of them to the death with an axe the rest of the pack only goes to "non-lethal" combat.

Another possible addition: might it have something to do with how large. dangerous animals are terrified of dwarves in fort mode? Elephants for instance. Dwarves used to be afraid of them, but now they walk past them like they don't exist, and the elephants flee in terror.

Well yeah, there's the whole morale problems which affects all modes. That probably has to be fixed before we can really tell what's going on.

Forgot the save. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gmoldkxouxdxe50/gimli_trolls.zip [^] Here you are.

And, you mean 0007161? I would almost certainly say it's related to that, yes.

OP here. In my original 40.01 save, it was a wild troll I think, in the caverns outside a world gen dwarf fortress. He didn't move at all, just stood there frozen (but not petrified, I suspect).

Drinking blood doesn't seem to faze them in 40.08, or least they aren't responding to it.

In 40.24, my adventurer I spawned in retired fort that was under siege of goblins and trolls was not attacked by said trolls. They were either just standing around or fighting goblins (0003685).

In 44.02 this problem is still happening, trolls don't attack .
And worse : my companions AI do not attack them either.

I killed several of them and still neither the surviving trolls or my companions are joining the fight

This report has a younger duplicate/relation within 0010031 since it precedes it in age.

Trolls are a [LARGE_PREDATOR] type yet troglodytes are not and similarly affected in the attached issue report above, wild intelligent & semi sapients would not attack the player compared to in this current report semi-sapients on sites.

Which seems to be a worsening of the behavior first noticed here.
