0007765: Abandoning rescued child in town turns child into recruit, assorted related bugs
I went to attack a goblin fortress, did it successfully, came away with a load of children. Most of them died along the way (getting lost, attacked by bandits, turning on me) but I made it back into town with two of them. One of them was fine with me. The other one called me a murderer and spat at me constantly. Wasn't sure why.

I finally decided to just abandon the kid because I couldn't get anything out of him, and skipped the greeting, asking him directly about the travel agreement. He told me we'd left his aunt in the goblin fortress - and I actually think I killed her, as she was attacking me. So, I did the only wise thing it seemed I could do and finished abandoning the kid in the elven capital. Then I went to fast travel.

It wasn't long before I saw a little * traveling around on the map, so I chased it down and tracked it to figure out who or what it was. It was the kid I'd just abandoned, and he seemed... mute. Unable to answer any question I'd just put to him. In addition, he had the elven soldier symbol, and was marked as a recruit.
Probably what I did. Not sure what else could cause it. Might be an isolated incident, in which case I hope someone is able to provide more info.

I should note that this is still around, was around in 40.18, pretty sure it's still in 40.19.

The mute encounters seems like a common bug, but I'm not sure how to reproduce it either.
