Summary0010519: (Almost) unkillable zombie made when raising corpse of curling hedgehog man
DescriptionRaising the corpse of a curled up hedgehog man seems to make an almost invulnerable zombie that can still attack.
Steps To ReproduceIn this save: [^]

You can see a zombie hedgehog man surrounded by fire trapped up against the necromancer tower. If you climb over the fire to get to him and attempt to attack him, you can see that he appears to be curled up (you are only able to attempt to attack his upper body), despite him being able to attack you perfectly fine.

Additional InformationI attempted to hack at him for quite some time with the various weapons and I had, but I couldn't seem to destroy the upper body (maybe it is possible).

I was able to finally kill the zombie by lighting fires underneath him/around him then waiting for a long time; eventually he 'died in the heat.'

Since I was an elf I couldn't become a necromancer to test this out myself in this save though.

This is still an issue in 47.04 and affects all variants of hedgehog and echidna. It also affects living creatures, albeit to a lesser degree.

It can be reproduced in the arena with these steps:
1) Spawn a hedgehog or echidna
2) Spawn something next to the creature that should easily be able to kill it (e.g. a bronze colossus)
3) Take control of the hedgehog/echidna and roll into a ball
4) Release control and watch the never-ending combat

Living hedgehogs/echidnas will eventually bleed out if attacked with an edged weapon, but can't be killed by blunt damage.

When not rolled into a ball, attacks to the upper body will cause pulping and organ damage as normal. When in ball form this doesn't happen. Additionally, most attacks to undead will "pass right through" or only damage the spines and hair.

This doesn't affect tortoises, armadillos, etc. because their shells can be severed, leaving them vulnerable.

This save features an undead echidna locked in combat with an intelligent undead dwarf: [^]
It also demonstrates another potential issue where the echidna can continue to attack while only being targeted in the upper body as if it were in ball form.

Removing [PREVENTS_PARENT_COLLAPSE] from the spine body part of the affected animals will allow them to be pulped and killed while curled up.

This bug just killed my FPS completely as an army was trapped just off map while the first few zombies out kicked around an undead echidna, forever.

Not having the means to wipe out an army, I resorted to Dfhack to eliminate the thing. The rest of the invaders stumbled onto the map and FPS shot back up again.
