Summary0011112: Monster Slayer "horrified by watching <monster> die"
DescriptionOcgi Alácathi, Human Maceman has been going to the caverns to kill monsters and getting horrified thoughts when watching the troglodytes that she has just smashed into a pulp die.
Possibly intended behavior of a personality quirk - she's now "getting used to tragedy" so this may stop after a while - but I would expect Monster Slayers to arrive with less squeamishness.
Save hopefully uploaded correctly here: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=14430 [^]
Steps To ReproduceWait until Ocgi heads off to slay monsters, check her Thoughts and the combat Reports.
Additional Information...please ignore the childbirths in her thoughts log, those were an experiment with DFhack that I forgot to exit-without-saving and were after the horrified reactions to her own successful kills

Not entirely sure this is a bug: "I never would have guessed that slaying monsters would be so bloody and disgusting!"

Monster slayers and mercs show no sign of being adapted/tailored to their role. Random dorfs with random properties get random jobs. Thus, inability to handle the job happens randomly, so this doesn't seem to be a bug as much as room for improvement when it comes to job selection/job candidate selection (as well as job training: all those mercs and guards that move at a crawl because they wear armor they aren't trained to carry ought to either shed some armor or be trained to wear it).

No race or entity no matter how violent can actually tolerate a violent scene as anything other than negative. Monster Hunters would need more innate discipline, to about competent level to not feel a reaction but even still they would be unnerved by killing semi-sentients like troglodytes and Trolls without higher levels.

I agree with @PatrikLundell that it needs more formative development to flesh out the behaviours and expected reactions.

I agree with fantasticdorf, i believe monster slayers are almost always hist figs and so its just a hist fig that happened to become a monster slayer, so it would be silly to "rewrite their brain" if they become mercs/monster hunters what really needs to happen is some changes to how job selection happens in the world activities/history gen.
SO this is less a bug and more a case of"haven't gotten there yet"

If monster slayers correctly followed fortress mode reputation cues, i would believe that the consequence on the -100||100 reputation reactive score personally and to the viewer would be significantly less or possibly enjoy killing monsters/wildlife/named fauna based on a pre-adopted adventurer or gained 'hunter' reputive personality.

Dwarves do not like nature and accept trophies by ethics, this kind of correction would mean that dwarves or dwarf civilization adapted views should regard a animals reputation as poor. Not that dwarves are bloodthirsty.
