Summary0004989: Segfault on Reclaim (or "My savefile is corrupted, and I loved it")
DescriptionCan anyone resurrect this thing?

http://ansistego.sf.net/dibesherib_crazygorge_save.tar.gz [^]

If it doesn't crash after five to ten minutes unpaused, especially after half an hour to an hour, I'll be very very interested in what you did, and I'll want it back (brilanon@gmail.com)

Marvel at my underground bee colony (I used channels to make it Light/Outdoors down there). I really want this save back! I couldn't get it to stop segfaulting so I abandoned, and now when I try to reclaim, I get a segfault. That's another thing to try: if it does crash on you, can you abandon it, then reclaim it, or do you get the crash then, too?
Steps To ReproduceLoad up my game, unpause, run it for half an hour or somewhat less. Or, abandon it and try to reclaim. IF you -cannot- reproduce the bug I'd like to know what you did and to try your copy of the save
Additional InformationSorry this is sort of a personal problem

I'm having trouble getting it uploaded there. It's not saying why it doesn't work it just drops the upload meter after some minutes. Can't you download it from sourceforge?

Here are my notes from dffd where I can't upload the file and finish the submission. Please do get the file from ansistego.sf.net that's the only place I can seem to get it to. I tried all night

---

If you load this game and unpause it you'll get a crash after a few minutes go by. I don't know what's responsible except running Dwarf Therapist 64-bit which got me wrong headcounts and seemed to write back spurious legendary statuses to several dwarves (I shouldn't have any Legendary Swordsmen). If this save is loaded in DT you should get a wrong headcount. And if it's abandoned and reclaimed you should get a crash. And if you let it run half an hour it should crash.

If none of those three things happens or one of those three things doesn't happen I want to know and I want your copy of the save (whatever you did to keep it from crashing)

I'd be happiest if I could load and play this again. Next best would be getting it to abandon and reclaim without crashing. This was my first fort, it lasted over 20 years through multiple sieges and I'd love to pick it up again, I had plans for it

Thanks so much

Maximum file size allowed: 100MB

Indeed, I can't upload 16MB whatever I do. It got up to over 70% one time.

The link I put in the body of the bug report to ansistego.sf.net is the save file. What is the problem with retrieving it from there?

I tried and tried. It times out. I even Googled about HTTP uploads timing out all the time and stuff and tried two different things I swear. Please download it from sourceforge, imagine how broken hearted I am right now

flamoot - I uploaded your save here:

Don't know why it didn't work for you. In general, though, reclaims are messed up. And, introducing DF Therapist introduces another cause for concern.

Yeah, if DT has written bad data, this could be permanently corrupted. I'm reluctantly leaving this report open -- if it's DT's fault, looking at this save would be a waste of time for Toady.

Do you have older saves you can revert to?

I'm afraid not

What I'm really thinking is possible is if you had a version with debugging symbols running in gdb it would tell you just where it broke. I'd be happy just knowing that. But maybe it'll turn out if I kill half my dwarves or something it stops because it's one of them but only when he's alive. That's my guess

I guess I can try that myself but someone with wizard mode could do it instantly. All the dfhack trainers are for windows...

If you could totally change out the living dwarves like go to population 0 without losing the game then trigger a migrant wave, the savegame might be cured.

By the way I made a small hack to the temperate large creatures raw and added wool to grizzly bears and black bears, iirc that file should be in the save, in case you need that to make it work. i think it shouldn't be necessary. the existing bears gained wool without any problems and it worked for a long time before i started using dwarf therapist and really messed it up. i think if their wool disappears it won't be a problem. uhh,

I've got other segfaults using dwarf therapist carelessly (without restarting it when I save my game, in particular) but not from RAW editing

In the future, please edit existing notes instead of posting 5 separate notes in 15 minutes.

Did you add that material to your raws after world gen?

Yes. I've heard that's bad

Yeah, it's kind of the DF equivalent of voiding your warranty -- see 0001271.
