Also, after some more time he left the area. |

This is still happening in 0.43.05. |

The poet is a "talented" swimmer (and has recently improved her swimming skill with the constant practice), so she would not be expected to drown in this situation.
When I cleared her "visitor" flag using dfhack she exited the water and headed into the fortress. So I'd say the buggy behavior here is that the poet pathed into the moat initially, and that, as a flagged visitor, she never pathed back out to enter the fortress.
When you state that this behavior is still happening in 0.43.05, do you mean another visitor got stuck in the moat, or just that this save, when loaded in 0.43.05, still exhibits the same problems as noted in 0.42.02? |
No, I meant that it is still happening when I build a moat in the newer versions, without loading the old save.
While playing the versions from 0.42.02 to 0.43.05 I have noticed plenty of visitors that have behaved this way. This is reocurring in nearly every fortress with a moat, so the channeling is probably the cause for this behavior. |

Were these visitors on-screen and headed towards your fortress when you were channeling the moat? Or do they show up after the moat is dug but before it's entirely flooded? |
I've had multiple 0.42.X visitors entering a murky pool close to where they entered the map. When using DFHack to teleport them out of the pool they promptly returned down into it. Teleporting the visitors to a fortress entrance caused them to proceed into the fortress rather than returning back to the mud bath. One of these visitors displayed the intention to petition and immediately petitioned when released from the quick sand. |
They appeared when the moat was already channeled and flooded, at least most of them.
Since I build the moat at the very beginning, the chance that some were 'trapped' while the water was filling the cavity is rather small, though I can not say for sure that this didn't happen.
I'm also sure that they were not heading to the fortress while the moat was being channeled. |

This is still in 0.47.03. Two humans sitting in a pond. |

Can also confirm this happening a few times. Visitors pathed into a pond, I had to drain it and build stairs to get them out. Coincidentally the visitors in the pond were necromancers (another bug). |
