is not 'rested' What does this mean? Does she never get the "Rest" job, or is she tired/exhausted when she stops being winded or something? |

Sounds like a confusion in terminology? "Winded" means "not getting enough oxygen to sustain the current activity" - if your dwarf needs lung surgery, it's probably because something's wrong with her lung, right? If she's having a hard time breathing then it should cause her to get winded even just lying in bed if it's bad enough. |

No, there's a definite difference. I'm using the term from the health report. She continually had the 'Has Trouble Breathing' report, but would also become 'Winded' on top of that while being moved, causing the surgery attempt to be cancelled. I ended up knocking over all the tables in the hospital to force the surgeon to perform the surgery while she was in bed. There had indeed been something wrong with her right lung, laceration by multiple fragments of floating (false) rib. Plus she had a broken left foot, a broken right upper arm, broken lower left arm, three broken bones in her left hand, and two breaks in her upper left leg. Currently resting with severe blood loss and limb infections (due to all the time it took me to figure out how to get things working right). Two (I think) surgeries on the lung and rib, and nine suturing jobs overall. A triumph for dwarven emergency medicine, if she survives the infections. |

:( She didn't. |

I'm using the term from the health report. She continually had the 'Has Trouble Breathing' report, but would also become 'Winded' on top of that while being moved, causing the surgery attempt to be cancelled. Those are basically the same thing. The health screen just uses different terminology. What made you think that surgery was being canceled due to her being winded? What was the cancellation message? Do you have a save demonstrating the problem? http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^] |

No, I do not have a save. Sorry. They may be basically the same thing, in some sense, but I do not think that they *are* the same thing. I am reporting that the health screen was using BOTH terms *simultaneously* after the surgeon began moving the injured dwarf. At that point, the surgery would be canceled because the dwarf was not rested, as per hunger or thirst. After finally being back in bed and/or immobile for a while, the 'Winded' designation would disappear. |

It's a known bug, I think. Surgeries are often canceled, unless the operating table is placed next to the resting dwarf's bed. Try building a table next to each bed in your hospital. There used to be a report describing this, though I've only found this, which is somewhat similar yet different: 0003080 |

I am reporting that the health screen was using BOTH terms *simultaneously* after the surgeon began moving the injured dwarf. Yeah, there's nothing weird about that. "Winded" means you're out of breath as a result of having trouble breathing. "Trouble breathing" is a lung condition, and "winded" is the resulting impaired status (which lowers speed and stuff). At that point, the surgery would be canceled because the dwarf was not rested, as per hunger or thirst. I'm going to guess you mean "not resting" instead of "not rested", which makes this a duplicate of 0003080 as Jiri said. In the future, please make sure to copy/paste all relevant announcements from the gamelog so that we can avoid this kind of confusion, and always get a save if you're observing a bug. |
