Summary | 0006501: No Sound; possibly an OpenAL Symlink issue |
Description | Downloading and attempting to run the Linux version of DF (running ./df from the command line) starts the game, but with a pop-up error message regarding OpenAL. |
Steps To Reproduce | Download the Linux distribution of the game, extract the folder in the archive to a directory on your computer, and attempt to run the df script from the command line. |
Additional Information | A player found a solution to the issue. Although the solution was intended for Linux Mint users, the fix worked for me:

In my case, simply running the following from the command line fixed the problem:
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libopenal.so.1 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libopenal.so |
