It is a new game or it is a save from 0.40.03? In adventure mode at least opponents are using weapons a lot.

I don't see this happening, at least when I was testing in the arena. Weaponsmen seem to use their weapons very frequently, at least in combat. I'm also noticing, zombies are a lot less painful to kill, even with only "skilled" weapon use.

(I also got the horror dialogue while morale was off, but that's another story...)

EDIT: Testing sparring again, I've noticed that a lot of the generated combat isn't using weapons, where actual combat does. It appears to be a sparring bug.

Genned a new world, completely vanilla. Sparring is reported as combat, rather than sparring, and they never use any weapons. Their only weapon skill gains come from demonstrations, individual drills, and actually attacking enemies.

Still occurring for me in 0.40.05 (Linux), with a game that was moved from 0.40.03 -> 0.40.04 -> 0.40.05. Sparring squads only use weaponless attacks on each other.

Same as greycat. I just checked my recent logs. For the few shots that weren't blocked, they were punches and kicks only.

This is happening to my dwarves. Sparring is correctly reported but they never use their equipped weapons. During real combat they seem to use them just fine but as of now they are all labeled 'wrestler.'
