One: you're reporting a .34.11 bug.
Two: this is a duplicate report.

one: are all 34.11 bugs resolved in 40.xx? I didn't know...
two: I used the search function with various parameters and couldn't find that bug so I reported it. Could you link me to it please?

A search for "reclaim ocean" turns up bug 0005872, of which this bug is clearly a duplicate.

Also, you should never report bugs in older versions of Dwarf Fortress because it'll just require somebody to retest the bug in the latest version, and if it turns out the bug has been fixed in the meanwhile then you've just wasted the time of everybody involved.

By deliberately playing an older version, you basically agree to put up with every bug in it because there will never be an update for that particular version (there's never going to be a 0.34.12, just 0.40.09 and beyond).

Ok point taken but that brings me to the question: Why is there than even the option to report bugs for older versions if it's pointless anyway?

I guess I can't just delete it can I?

Possibly because...
 - It helps us know when people are reporting bugs for an older version, like here
 - Sometimes releases are save-compatible, like 40.07 for 40.08, and that lets us still test 40.07 bugs
 - Toady didn't design Mantis, nor did anyone else here - it's just a service we're using.

And no, you can't delete it yourself, but someone helpful like Footkerchief, Dwarfu, Knight Otu or Lethosor will probably be in shortly to close it down.
