Please upload your save file to DFFD or somewhere else convenient - without it, there's no way to reproduce this bug.

The save is here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=5187 [^]
This is my first time zipping and uploading a save, so please let me know if something is wrong.

Somehow, the object name for MEADOW-GRASS (the first plant object) got corrupted within the save file - after decompressing world.sav and fixing it using a hex-editor (starting at offset 0x0F3D04, overwriting the 8 bytes of junk with "MEADOW-G" so the rest of it spells "MEADOW-GRASS"), I was able to successfully load the fortress.

Bizarre! Can you recommend a hex editor to use? I haven't done this sort of thing for a long time. And how do I decompress the save (I assume you mean something beyond just opening the rar)?

EDIT: I figured out both. Thanks so much for all your help!

Marking "unable to reproduce" since the actual corruption event doesn't seem reproducible.

A weird save corruption thing you might want to be aware of -- see Quietust's note at 0004960:0018987.
