Summary | 0002684: Wounded dwarf outside hospital will not rest properly, and therefore not recieve aid. Followed by death.
Description | An engraver had a hand broken by an elephant. There was a hospital available but i had forgotton to build beds in it. This lead to him getting dragged to a random bed and getting a "No Job" status which prevented other dwarves from seeing him as injured, making them not help him.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Have an active hospital that lacks beds. 2. Have another empty bed in your fortress. 3. Get an Elephant to start rampaging through your fortress. 4. Someone recieves an injury by said Elephant. 5. Wait for a while.
Additional Information | I fixed the problem by building beds in the hospital, and then deconstructing the bed he was in, this lead the dwarves to drag him to the hospital where he recieved treatment and recovered.

Sounds like 0002453. Do you still get this error after moving the save to the most recent version, 31.10? http://bay12games.com/dwarves/ [^] |

I moved it to 31.10 and the dwarf was still in the bed, not recieving any aid, but like i said, it was fixed by removing the bed. If you mean that it won't happen again, then i am not certain, i haven't been able to reproduce it. |

I had a similar problem, and fixed it by removing ALL the non-medical jobs off my doctor. Apparently, healthcare is very low priority. Which is strange, it should be very high priority. Also, if a dwarf can still move by himself (even if he faints every 3 steps), they won't help him to bed. |

I had several designated nurses who were on standby, they had no job but to feed and retrieve people, it wasn't due to lack of dwarves who could do it, but the fact that he had "No Job" instead of "Rest" as his active job. |

It might be helpful if you upload a save demonstrating the problem to http://dffd.wimbli.com/ [^] |

Link to the save: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2726 [^] It was done in 31.08, but moving it to 31.10 does not fix it. |

I've got a military dwarf in 0.31.12 who got his lower spine fractured and can no longer stand. He's sitting inside my floodable entrance with "No Job" when he's inactive and "Station" if I try stationing him in the hospital, yet he makes no attempts to move. Since he isn't resting, nobody tries to rescue him, but dwarves do seem to bring him food and water. He's now become drowsy, and I suspect he's going to eventually go insane as a result. Considering his injury would probably leave him a permanent invalid, this is probably an acceptable loss... [edit] After being watered once, my dwarves proceeded to ignore him completely. Finally, once he was on the brink of starvation, he started Resting and one of my doctors rescued him, at which point he was given food and water, diagnosed, and treated (a dressing on his fractured and bruised lower spine, and cleaning for his broken and smashed open second toe, right foot). Unfortunately, no crutches have been assigned, so he's just going to sit there resting forever. |
