Summary0000131: His eye/lung is broken. (debatable issue)
DescriptionEyes and lungs are said to be "broken" when hurt to uselessness.
Additional InformationSince the eye is not specifically being fractured like a bone, would a more suitable word not be "ruined" or "destroyed?" Same goes with the lung, but "puncutured" could be also used (although thinking back, punctured would work with the eye too).

This are debatable issues but do feel out of place in my opinion. Act on them as you will.

Hm. "Ruined", definitely sounds like a better choice for soft body parts damaged beyond repair. Punctured, however is a bit to specific, since it implies that the organ was damaged with a piercing or stabbing weapon, when this may not be the case.

But I suppose this is all a bit subjective.

Thanks for the input. I agree about puncturing.

Not really an issue I suppose, but a assist in polish.

I have seen dented guts as well.

I have also seen fractured lungs.

Hmm, it seems eye gouging "breaks open" eyes.

And strangulation can "break open" the throat,

"broken open" sounds messed up and nasty.

Well I made sense of it! A red (destroyed) lung is listed as "broken" while a yellow (quite damaged) lung is listed as "fractured"

It makes sense now.
