Summary | 0001167: Not Recovering Wounded
Description | Dwarves that are severely injured are not recovered. They eventually heal enough to take a few steps and then pass out. This is repeated until they reach the hospital. I even set a peasent with only recover wounded as their available job and he just sat in his room with no job.

Could the "Recover wounded" job have been getting assigned to another invalid, as in 0000770? If you can reproduce this, make sure to check the (j)ob screen and see whether there's a "Recover Wounded" job queued, and who it's assigned to. |

I'm having this issue as well today. I have a dwarf that has a red foot. When he was first injured during battle, I saw the 'unable to stand' flag. However I deactivated my military so they could all chill out after a long siege battle, and this 'unable to stand' tag has gone away, but the dwarf is not moving. His job right now is 'Go to individual combat drill'. In the z-health screen he is listed as needing diagnosis, but no other flags are set on this screen. Nobody has the 'recovering wounded' job. I had someone set to only recover wounded, and he is listed as 'no job'. Ok, now that I have put my military back on active duty, my designated nurse is going to get him. |

I have an undiagnosed severely injured dwarf sitting unconscious in my kitchen. He has been there for the last 2 years. Other dwarves have been successfully treated in the hospital in the mean time. I tried to injure him further with a spike trap to see if this would make someone carry him to the hospital but this just took out another one of his limbs (no hands now). |

I have a similar situation as described by Steb. My dwarf has the job "rest" but he is not in a bed or in the hospital (He was in his room). I have the save, I'll have to upload it. Other dwarfs have been successfully treated in the hospital, also like Steb reported. In the healthcare screen it says that he hasn't been diagnosed yet. I also thought along the lines of Footkerchief, so I deleted all the jobs until all 73 of my dwarfs were basically doing nothing. They still didn't take care of him. He is generating food and water requests, and I have seen him feed and watered. I am going to try to drop him a z-level and see if that "resets" whatever is broken. I don't know if I can dig under him, though. Anything else I should try? Maybe trying to put him in the military, activate the crew and then deactivate it? Then we have to worry about PTSD! Ha! |

I had a similar problem where one of my military dwarves got injured in my floodgate sealed pit/arena. He fell unconscious and laid there for about half a year, nobody recovered him after I opened the floodgates. After trying many things (removing him from military, cave-in, setting the tile he was unconscious on to a hospital zone, building a bed under him, even going so far as to completely remove every dwarf's job except recover wounded), it finally dawned on me that the problem may have been because he was in a sealed room at the time he went comatose. So, thinking maybe I needed to reset the "recover wounded" job, I built a cage trap under him, let his unconsciousness trap him, built the cage (in the hospital, though I don't think it matters), linked it to a lever, and opened it up. Right after that he regained his consciousness and headed to the nearest bed where he is resting peacefully. Now, this didn't work the way I had originally planned, but the result was the same; he is finally DOING something again. |

I dropped my dwarf mentioned above 1 Z level. After 5 years of "rest" in his room (but not in bed) he was promptly hauled to the hospital, diagnosed, and stitched up in one months time! Now he is off and running. I had one dwarf that was in the hospital a long time (6 game months) so i deconstructed the bed he was on. He went to "no job". I then noticed a job cancelation like "Urist cancels assist injured dwarf, dealing with dangerous animal". (the dwarf assigned to take him to bed was in the middle of caging an animal.) The job was never re-queued (that I could tell) and the dwarf died of dehydration a few game months later. Ah well. |

This bug appears to still occur in 31.18. I had many dwarves injured during a siege, and wound up completely filling my 12 bed hospital. After constructing four more beds two more dwarves were hauled in, but one dwarf with a broken foot remains outside the fortress. His diagnosis required flag is set but no recover wounded job is being generated on the J screen. |
